A visit to An Achievable Dream |
Apr 19, 2017 |
On April 19th, as school was getting starting, several Rotarians of the Peninsula Rotary Club visited An Achievable Dream Academy on 16th Street in Newport News. An Achievable Dream is a unique, nationally-recognized organization with the goal of taking "at risk" students and giving them not only an education, but also a set of values and a set of social skills to put them on a path toward becoming successful and productive members of society.

Their mission was to get to know them (a new "partner" club to us), and to see what projects they had identified as possible joint projects. Going on the trip were Ray Spencer, Danny Carroll, Kevin Yeargin, and Nhu Quach (Nhu is Kevin's wife). |

In early March of 2013 three Peninsula Rotarians, two representatives of our Interact Club at Peninsula Catholic High School, and one Rotarian daughter went to Costa Rica to meet with our partners, the Escazu Rotary Club, to see our newly-completed water treatment project and to help plan our next international project. They enjoyed themselves a bit, as well. |
